Lombard Street House Information:
The four-story, 3,705 square foot House is located on Lombard Street between Leavenworth Street and Jones Street, one block east the eight sharp turns which have earned the street the distinction of being "the crookedest street in the United States".
The House is divided into three units, the top floor has two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The middle unit has two bedrooms and two bathrooms and access to a series of balconies through a french door topped staircase. The bottom unit has two bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, a walk-out terrace and bonus studio apartment with bathroom. The third and fourth floors were renovated for the filming of the series.
"A three-story building at 953 Lombard St. that hosted the third installment of MTV's serial "Real World" program in 1994 was gutted by a fast-moving fire, possibly caused by a tipped candle. The blaze caused more than $2 million in damage. Carrying on MTV's legacy, the house was being occupied by a group of young men and women whose lives were aired - this time live on the Internet. Nine people, including the elderly parents of the house's owner, escaped without injuries from the 3:20 a.m. inferno at one of San Francisco's newest tourist destinations. The house sits just a half-block down from one of The City's most famous landmarks: the crookedest street in the world." (San Francisco Chronicle Article)
Several years after the fire, the House was completely renovated including new wood floors, updated bathrooms, renovated kitchens and a refinished limestone exterior.
