Pier 41 Information:

Pier 41 is located on the Upper New York Bay in the Red Hook neighborhood of Brooklyn. The Pier is owned by Greg O? Connell, a local real estate developer. It has been reported that the space renovated for the filming of the series previously housed a catering and event hall. A portion of Pier 41 was built out as a bar/night club set for the 2005 movie ?Hitch?.

Bunim Murray Productions originally selected the BellTel Lofts for the filming of the series. However, due to construction permitting issues, the renovation of the two duplex Penthouses stalled and the search for an alternative location began. The reported first choice was a recently renovated penthouse in the Carroll Gardens neighborhood at 116 3rd Place. The Brooklyn row house building had previously been considered among 24 other Brooklyn locations. Negotiations at 116 3rd Place mutually ended and Pier 41 was selected.

A portion of the 1st and 2nd floors at the western end of the Pier were renovated for the filming of the series. Pier 41 is located 5.7 miles from the Hudson Street Loft used in the filming of the tenth season and 5.5 miles from the SoHo Loft used in the filming of the first season.

When I visited the Pier on 5/20/2010, the western end was fenced off and appeared vacant. In October 2010, local restaurateur Michael O?Keeffe leased the western end of the Pier and renovated it into Liberty Warehouse, a banquet hall available for events.
