Palms Suite Information:
The Palms Casino Resort is located west of the Las Vegas Strip and contains 802 hotel rooms, a 95,000 square foot casino, a recording studio and a 2,200 seat showroom. In 1994 the Maloof Family purchased the Fiesta Casino in Las Vegas for $8 Million, selling it in 2000 for over $185 million. The money was reinvested into the creation of The Palms Casino Resort.
The Palms opened on November 15, 2001 and was designed by Jon Jerde, principal of the Jerde Partnership. The 2,900 square foot Palm Suite was created by demolishing 6 room on the 28th floor. The Control Room and Production Offices occupied 4 surrounding rooms. The entire floor had to remain empty for 7 months to accommodate the configuration, including the 4 1/2 months of filming.
The Palms Suite cost $2 Million to construct, and was designed by Sharmila Tankha of the Jerde Partnership, the same firm that designed The Palms Casino Resort. Unlike previous Real World Houses, the Palms Suite is not decorated with IKEA furnishings.
In October of 2005, the second tower, dubbed the "Fantasy Tower", opened at a cost of $600 Million. The tower includes fantasy suites ranging from the Hardwood Suite with a half court basketball court, to the Hugh Hefner Sky Villa, a two-story suite modeled after the Playboy Mansion. The rooms go for up to $40,000 per night. The Fantasy Tower also includes the world’s only Playboy Club, the first to operate in 25 years.
Palms Place was the third and final tower constructed on the west end of the Palms property. Opened in 2008, the 58-story hotel, condominium and spa tower provided an additional 599 suites.
The Palms Suite is currently available to the public.
